Position : iOS Developer

Location : Remote / Minneapolis, MN

Job Type : 6+ months Contract to hire

PURPOSE:

The Software Engineer Sr - iOS Development will be part of the Digital Solutions team, a group on the forefront of the Digital Transformation. Works as part of a team to deliver mobile solutions for customers, suppliers, and associates. Develops new and enhances existing apps to improve the user experience and provide new, innovative features and capabilities. Applies understanding of mobile architecture patterns and best practices of mobile application development.

JOB RESPONSIBILITIES:

Knows and applies the fundamental concepts, practices and procedures of native mobile app development using Swift

Maintains excellent business communication with Analysts, Business Owners and Technical Staff

Creates and delivers daily communications to management and internal organizations regarding status of all assigned tasks

Develops accurate task definition, estimates and task... schedules for own assignments

Collaborates with Business Analysts, UX designers, and other mobile developers in the business requirements, user experience, and technical design of mobile apps

Assists in the implementation of new systems including the integration of the new system

Participates in development of new applications, creating new data structures, physical data record/file design, creating new job streams, and modifying existing programs, data structures and job streams; all work is produced in accordance with established procedures, following departmental standards, guidelines and system development methodologies on all assigned tasks

Develops test cases and test plans, creates the unit test environment in XCode

Conducts unit and system tests for new or modified applications

Submits program and design work for review by technical and user staff

Participates in the review of mobile code and provides technical guidance to other team members

Reviews and validates the application of sound development and design techniques

Mentors junior associates in proper documentation techniques

Leads analysis and development of technical solutions to resolve problems

Includes and guides other team members in problem solving activities

Adheres to department standards, guidelines and systems development methodologies for all assigned tasks and mentors others in their use

Independently resolves day-to-day problems within the business segment; involves and guides other team members in problem solving efforts

Stays abreast of emerging mobile technologies and capabilities and trends in mobile app development industry.

Performs other duties as assigned.

JOB REQUIREMENTS:

Education/Certification:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science or related field preferred

Experience:

  • 6-8 years relevant work experience in software development preferred
  • 3-5 years relevant work experience in native mobile development
  • Experience working in an Agile development team preferred

Knowledge:

  • Strong working knowledge of iOS development in Swift
  • Knowledge of Android is a plus
  • Must have strong computer skills within stated area of engineering expertise and must be proficient in use of Microsoft Office applications
  • Possesses solid knowledge of program design, coding, testing and documentation

Skills/Abilities:

  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills, strong customer focus and interpersonal skills, with the demonstrated ability to work in geographically dispersed teams
  • Apply logical thought process and ability to learn new systems, concepts and procedures
  • Ability to manage competing priorities
  • Demonstrate basic analytical and conceptual skills used to define technical needs and solve technical problems

PHYSICAL ENVIRONMENT/ DEMANDS:

  • Some travel may be required
  • Most work is performed in a temperature-controlled office environment
  • Incumbent may sit for long periods of time at desk or computer terminal
  • While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to sit; use hands to finger, handle, or feel; reach with hands and arms; and talk or hear.
  • Incumbent may use calculators, keyboards, telephone and other office equipment in the course of normal workday

Stooping, bending, twisting and reaching may be required in completion of job duties
