The Legal Department of Protective Life Corporation has an opening for a Regulatory Analyst in the Birmingham, Alabama corporate office. Success in this role requires writing skills, organizational skills, motivation, attention to detail, and the ability to manage multiple projects.


  • A minimum of 5-7 years at an insurance company working with registered variable products or comparable experience is required
  • Bachelor’s degree and relevant experience or additional advanced training, such as a paralegal certificate or other appropriate advanced degree required

· Experience with forms N-4, N-6 required, and S-1 or S-3 preferred

· Working knowledge of forms N-CEN and 24f-2

· Experience with web-based content control prospectus platform preferred

  • Experience with contract analysis and review preferred
  • Competence in MS Word, Excel and PowerPoint is required
  • Must have strong organizational, teamwork and communication skills
  • Attention to detail is required
  • Must... have the ability to handle pressure and prioritize multiple competing projects
  • Must be willing to work overtime as needed


  • Provide support for Investment Products and Securities Regulation Team attorneys and work with other Regulatory Analysts as assigned
  • Prepare securities filings for variable life and variable annuity products
  • Regulatory examination support (SEC, FINRA)
  • Contract review for broker dealer and variable insurance separate accounts
  • Support various tasks with respect to fixed and variable products
  • Support tasks associated with variable product fund managers
  • Preparation of periodic compliance reporting to parent company
  • Support for integration of acquired blocks of variable products
  • Research projects as needed
  • Additional duties as appropriate given experience and ability
