Established company in the science/research industry seeks a Software Developer/Consultant for a 9-month contract. Will participate in the design and development a new custom software suite! The role focuses on custom application development, but it will also include integration with company’s purchased systems and platforms. Strong coding, design and problem solving skills will be key to succeeding in this role. Responsibilities: · Work within the Applications Development team to design and implement custom applications replacing some existing applications, transforming others to be cloud-hosted, and ensuring all are highly performant and user friendly · Develops solutions to complex problems · Develop new features, enhancements, and bug fixes · Evaluate and implement new technologies when applicable to environment Requirements: · Bachelor’s degree or equivalent experience · 5+ years of software development experience in Python, or similar object-oriented programming... language · 3+ years experience in requirements analysis, systems design and systems integration · Ability to translate user stories into design specs and development tasks and provide estimates of the work. · Excellent problem solving and debugging skills · Experience with a web development and web frameworks, preferably Django · Demonstrated experience using and developing RESTful and/or SOAP based web services. · Comfortable with Linux environment or with Linux commands and tools · Strong ability to structure, illustrate and or communicate complex concepts in an understandable, practicable manner · Ability to manage multiple tasks and projects simultaneously · Experience with cloud-based system architecture · Experience with source control, preferably Git or Mercurial Preferred Experience: · Experience building web-based user interfaces with technologies such as CSS, JavaScript, HTML, JSON, Ajax · Hands-on SQL experience and SQL query optimization · Experience working in an Agile development methodology

My client is located in Shelton, CT and they are looking for a CONTRACT Programmer/Developer - with OpenVMS and Fortan experience. This person will work on Legacy Migrations / Conversions. You can work on site in the Shelton, CT office or remotely. Manager sits on site in Shelton, CT. They need a coder who knows legacy systems and can look at the old code that was done in Fortan and Open VMS and decide how to re-write it in new tech like Java, Angular, Node, etc. This role does require experience with the older systems and applications (Fortan and Open VMS) and you must be willing to work on those Migrations / Conversions to newer languages.
