Position Overview
The Commercial Real Estate Underwriter's primary job function is to perform review and analysis of documents and information throughout the loan process, and present conclusions and recommendations via the Loan Credit Memorandum and Narrative. The quality, completeness and accuracy of the Underwriter's analysis are of utmost importance to ensure that Fremont Bank makes sound lending decisions.

Role And Responsibilities
- Input and understanding of property rent rolls, leases, and operating statements
- Review and understanding of borrower credit, including credit report, personal, and business... financial statements, personal and business tax returns, and schedule of real estate owned
- Review borrower organizational documents and accurately present the borrower structure along with Guarantors in the Narrative
- Review and understanding of preliminary title report
- Analyze loans to assess the strengths and weaknesses of a transaction and recommend mitigating factors
- Function as a problem solver (with the assistance of the Team Leader and Manager)
- Contact/communicate with Commercial Relationship Managers and their assistants to discuss issues and outstanding documentation
- Prepare Letter of Interest for new loans as needed
- Review due diligence needs lists prepared by processor
- Identify and summarize all file conditions on the Loan Credit Memorandum in order to ensure smooth documentation and closing
- Participate as a proactive member of the credit administration team, from the start of a loan all the way through closing
- Provide training to processors and commercial credit analysts as needed
- Adhere to Fremont bank policies and guidelines
- Actively participate in team meetings
- Assist with special projects such as annual loan monitoring as needed
Minimum Qualifications
- Bachelor's Degree or equivalent experience
- Five plus years of experience in the commercial real estate underwriting
- Strong verbal and written communication skills
- Must have understanding of Global Cash Flow, analysis of business financial statements and spreading software, commercial real estate transactions, lease types, capitalization rates, net operating income, and appraisal analysis
- Ability to deliver excellent service to teammates, sales staff, and customers
- Ability to work in a fast-paced environment while delivering accurate and quality work product
- Knowledge of the Bay Area real estate market preferred
- Strong communication skills (verbal and written)
- Ability to handle multiple projects and assignments
- Excellent organizational skills
- Proficiency in Microsoft software (Word, Excel, Outlook)
- Experience in all types of Commercial Real Estate Lending, for example:
- Owner Occupied, Non-Owner Occupied, SBA 504, Multifamily, Special Purpose
