Job Details

This is a temporary position responsible for helping the HR Department provide recruitment/staffing support for all Douglas County departments, except for the Douglas County Sherriff’s Office (DCSO). Work is sensitive and highly confidential. The temporary assignment is anticipated to be approximately 3 months.

Ideally this position will provide office coverage, however, some remote work may be an option.

Compensation is dependent upon qualifications and experience as it relates to the position.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES: The following examples are illustrative only and are not intended to be all inclusive.

Recruitment:

  • Provides on-going support of all aspects of recruitment, screening, interviewing, sourcing candidates, advertising strategies, policies, metrics tracking and analysis, and associated training.
  • Monitors applicant tracking system and provides support to hiring managers.
  • Conducts applicant pre-employment screenings.
  • Administers, coordinates, and... documents the drug testing program for candidates for employment.
  • Coordinates pre-employment processes, including criminal background checks and drug tests, in accordance with applicable laws and policies.
  • Conducts applicant testing including skills testing, reference checks, and language proficiency testing.
  • Coordinates new hire orientation scheduling, logistics, and communications to hiring managers and candidates.
  • Serves as main point of contact for applicants and candidates.
  • Maintains applicant tracking system by posting jobs, updating job description database, and coordinating with hiring manager on specific job posting requirements.
  • Maintains recruitment files and documents and ensures documents are entered into employee files. Presents New Employee Orientation (NEO).

Compensation:

  • This position is not authorized to approve a hiring salary request, however, will be responsible for serving as a liaison and/or facilitating new hire compensation conversations with the departing hiring manager(s) and the Sr. Human Resources Generalist, HR Manager and/or HR Director.

Legal Compliance:

  • Awareness of and compliance with statutes, regulations, and case law affecting the discipline of Human Resources.
  • Supports department hiring managers to recruit within current employment laws, County policies and procedures, and HR best practices.
  • Works collaboratively with Sr. HR Generalists and HR management for assistance, counsel, and research needs.

Other Duties:

  • Performs other duties and special projects as assigned.

SUPERVISION RECEIVED: This position reports to the Human Resources Manager. Performs duties under general supervision; tasks are expected to be completed with substantial independence. Work is reviewed for completeness, attention to detail, and compliance with guidelines, rules, and regulations.

SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES: None.

INDEPENDENT JUDGEMENT: Work is performed independently within County guidelines. Work requires the interpretation and communication of policies, procedures, complex documents and laws and regulations. Assignments are received in the form of results expected and due dates and may be reviewed upon completion.
