Your Opportunity

Our Calgary design studio is seeking a full-time, highly motivated Junior Landscape Architect/Intern Landscape Architect to join our Planning and Landscape Architecture team within the Community Development business line. Top candidates will have a high level of proficiency in designing projects and producing working drawings using Autodesk based software, excellent graphic communications skills, and have proactive/organized working traits. This position is perfect for someone early in their Landscape Architecture career with a thirst for exploring design ideas collaboratively with their teams. This position also offers mentorship under award... winning Landscape Architects, Planners, and Architects through all phases of a project lifecycle.

You will have the opportunity to plan and design public and private projects across a range of scales with a variety of developer, municipal, and federal clients. You will build new relationships with our 250 landscape architectural staff throughout the organization. As part of Stantec's flexible workplace, this position provides the opportunity for splitting between working at home and from our open concept studio environment.

Your Key Responsibilities

  • Supporting design teams with site analysis, concept design, production of construction documents, project presentation graphics, and construction administration efforts.
  • Remaining knowledgeable in general Landscape Architectural design while developing a specialty design area focus.
  • Producing designs and preparing project graphics using hand and computer drawing and rendering techniques.
  • Developing technical designs and drawings across a range of project scales from less than one acre to hundreds of acres in size. Skills required include technical design layout, grading, planting and detailing of design projects of all sizes.
  • Maintaining a sense of excitement to be involved in projects such as, but not limited to, urban design, education, healthcare, master planned communities, new town planning, recreation and sport facilities, resorts and tourism, town center/commercial development, etc.

Qualifications

Your Capabilities and Credentials

The successful candidate will possess the following:

  • Solid graphic and digital design and documentation skills.
  • An eagerness to continually learn and develop one's professional skills.
  • Willingness to work in a virtual environment to support projects across North America, as well as international project opportunities.

Technical skills required:

  • Proficiency in AutoCAD and Microsoft Office applications.
  • A high degree of skills in the Adobe suite of graphic software (Photoshop, Illustrator, InDesign, etc)
  • Ability to utilize rendering and modeling software such as Sketchup, Rhino, Lumion, etc.
  • Working knowledge of Land F/X and Revit software packages are not required but considered an asset.

Education and Experience

A degree in Landscape Architecture from an accredited university, or a diploma from a technical college focused on landscape architecture, or a combination of related education and experience. 3-5 years of professional experience.

Current licensure as a Landscape Architect is preferred, but not required for candidates. Licensure will be an essential aspect for continued advancement within the team.

A portfolio of project work will need to be provided for review. This can either be in pdf format or links to an online portfolio site.
