The Whip Media engineering team is growing and is looking for a Software Engineer to join our team in NYC. In this role, you will be working with a small development team on the design, development, enhancements and maintenance of data integration solutions as part of our web-based software for major film studios, TV broadcasters, and cable operators in a high-energy, start-up environment. You will work with the rest of the team to define the data mapping and transformation requirements and to implement the processes to move the data in and out of... core platform to enable deep integration with our customers and their partners.

Whip Media is primarily a Java, Spring, JavaScript, Python and PostgreSQL shop, but we also leverage a wide variety of technologies like Amazon Web Services. Our platform helps leading media and entertainment companies operate more efficiently with greater visibility and control in the new world of digital distribution.

What will you do?

  • Design and develop ETL processes using Python and our internal REST APIs
  • Write technical requirements and design documents
  • Work closely with a cross-functional team on the development of our new platforms and internal tools

What do you need?

  • Bachelors or equivalent degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or related field
  • 3+ years of corporate experience with software design and development skills in Python
  • 2+ years experience developing data processing pipelines or batch processing solutions
  • Experience with REST APIs
  • Familiarity with agile development
  • Experience and comfort working in a startup or fast moving environment
  • Experience with data modeling, in both SQL (ideally PostgreSQL) and non-relational technologies
  • Experience with data warehousing, ideally with Amazon Redshift, a plus
  • Experience with AWS S3 a plus
  • Experience with git and unit testing
