We are seeking a Data Scientist to join the Wealthfront Data Science team. The primary responsibility of this role is to provide analytical expertise to one or more of our five focus areas: investments, banking, growth, marketing, and fraud. Your work will span topics related to ad hoc analysis, A/B testing experimentation, dashboarding/visualizations, and model building with an emphasis on interpretability and actionable insights. The ideal candidate will interface with the focus area(s) and address their business needs while maintaining the rigors of a sound technical analysis.

Responsibilities

• Perform ad hoc data analyses for stakeholder areas
• Conduct or advise on A/B testing experiments and other statistical analysis tasks
• Build statistical and machine learning models for statistical inference and prediction
• Communicate results to stakeholders and provide actionable insights in a cohesive, compelling narrative
• Collaborate and interact continuously with other teams (data engineering, product, engineering, design, marketing, and compliance)
• Proactively and independently suggest ongoing enhancements to existing products and directions for new products based on up-to-date quantitative evidence
• Drive business impact with analytics

Requirements

• Passionate about driving product improvements and business impact with analytics
• Curiosity to discover business-relevant patterns in the data
• Strong presentation and influencing skills and ability to communicate technical content to an audience with various backgrounds
• Bachelor’s or Master’s in statistics, applied math, economics, computer science, engineering or a related area
• 2+ years experience in an online consumer business contributing significant business impact
• Ability to access, clean, transform, visualize, and model datasets with minimal engineering support using advanced SQL and intermediate level statistics (descriptive statistics, NHST, A/B testing)
• Programming competency in Python and/or R
• Desire to learn from senior data scientist mentors and to teach others
