If you are an Engineering professional looking for an opportunity to grow, Emerson has an exciting opportunity for you! Based in our Sidney, OH location, you will work in collaboration as part of a project team to design, develop and test concepts to support the launch and growth of products focused on air quality and comfort. You will be responsible for design efforts from initial concept through prototype development. Support will include the generation of 3D cad models for layouts, prototype drawings and analysis work. Support will also include presenting at design reviews, supporting assembly of prototype hardware in the research lab as well as supporting prototype hardware procurement. You should have a high degree of creativity, resourcefulness and be able to work in collaboration with engineers, lab technicians, advance manufacturing engineers as well as procurement and materials team members.


  • Work in collaboration with... Design/Project engineers, lab technicians, manufacturing engineers, procurement, reliablity and materials groups in support of advance technology development projects
  • Create design layouts of HVAC systems, sub-assemblies and components to establish spatial requirements and relationship of components to ensure functionality of design intent.
  • Verify design intent by checking proper fit-up of components using CAD and tolerance stack-up analysis methods.
  • Create detail drawings required for producing cost analysis, prototype parts and assembly fixtures.
  • Support efforts to procure and build prototype hardware for testing of advance compressor concepts.
  • Apply basic mechanical sciences to perform design analysis of components, including static/thermal analysis, strength of materials, material selection and design optimization.
  • Utilize Teamcenter database software in support of design projects.
  • Participate in design review meetings which will include presentation of design concepts and development to launch.

Flexible Work Schedule - Remote Work Option and Core Hours

This role has the flexibility of a remote work option up to three days a week and a core hour schedule. You can choose to flex your start and stop times given you are working during the core hours of 9:00am - 3:00pm. Our teams work together to ensure our chosen work schedules enable our creativity and productivity as we serve the needs of our customers.


  • Bachelor's degree in engineering plus five (5) years or more relevant experience or equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Minimum of five years of relevant industry experience related to HVAC
  • Experience producing CAD models for design layouts, assemblies, sub-assemblies and components as well as technical drawings for prototype and production components and working knowledge of Team Center
  • Experience with 3D CAD software such as Siemens NX9.0, SolidWorks or Pro/E.
  • Legal authorization to work in the United States - Sponsorship will not be provided for this role.


  • Seven (7) years or more of experience in HVAC, heat transfer or fluid dynamics
  • Proven track record of innovative and patentable ideas
  • Knowledge of common processes used in producing prototype components
  • Knowledge of polymers, including manufacturing techniques and material properties
  • Experience with Siemens NX and Teamcenter software packages
  • Experience with software programming
