TRC Advanced Energy (TRC), a nationally known consultancy, is seeking a Project Associate to support marketing, education, and outreach (ME&O) initiatives for two low income, multifamily energy efficiency programs in California. This position is responsible for delivering program awareness, developing relationships with current and prospective participants, identifying opportunities to improve the customer experience, and achieving program participation that support energy savings goals.

The duties of the position will be executed through direct outreach and engagement with multifamily property owners/representatives, contractors/construction teams, and other program implementers under the guidance of the ME&O Manager and the program management team. This position requires communicating with customers by phone and email.

Previous ME&O experience in energy efficiency, residential or multifamily, low income, property or asset management, and/or green building is... highly desirable. Candidate must be detail-oriented, have strong communication and customer service skills, and the capacity to handle multiple priorities. This position is located in one of TRC’s northern California offices: Oakland, San Francisco, or Rancho Cordova (Sacramento area). Remote working is currently in effect.

Responsibilities include but are not limited to the following:

  • Conducting marketing strategies that reach target audiences based on program goals
  • Conducting direct outreach to current and prospective participants
  • Providing direct customer service to eligible properties and lead generation
  • Developing contacts with existing and potential customers/program stakeholders
  • Evaluate properties for program eligibility, including review and handling of confidential information
  • Coordinating presentations or events that promote program offerings
  • Coordinating program trainings
  • Coordinating and contributing to content development
  • Coordinating with external program teams and maintaining a strong proficiency in program requirements for consulting with prospective customers regarding program participation
  • Investigating and recommending new applications or improvements to program
  • Providing marketing intelligence to management and support forecasts development
  • Promoting energy efficiency and electrification projects to assigned accounts or within a given territory
  • Performing QA/QC activities, including reviewing data prior to application/commitment and incentive payment
  • Working with technical staff to ensure projects move through the program
  • Presenting or tabling at industry conferences or events, networking with program stakeholders
  • Participating in energy design charrettes and other participant meetings
  • Building and maintaining relationships with raters, energy consultants, architects, and developers
  • Keeping the program’s ME&O Lead informed of matters of importance pertaining to outreach and marketing initiatives.
    Requirements
  • Associates or Bachelor's degree in a related field and a minimum of one year of related ME&O experience. Additional years of experience may compensate for degree.
  • Interpersonal skills:
  • Strong customer service skills that include highly effective communication in-person, over email, and over the phone
  • Self-driven and a team player
  • Ability to work both independently and collaboratively
  • Ability to effectively work across multiple teams (engineering, marketing, operations, etc.)
  • Develop and maintain effective relationships with program participants and market partners
  • Experience coordinating and hosting events
  • Experience and comfort with public speaking (in-person and virtually) as well as making cold calls, a plus
  • Conference speaking or moderating experience, a plus
  • Organizational skills:
  • Strong time management skills including the ability to monitor and track project milestones as it relates to ME&O strategies
  • Experience utilizing a Customer Relationship Management (CRM) system or a similar system to effectively track outreach/business development activities
  • Proficiency with computer and mobile technology devices
  • Proficient to advanced knowledge of MS Office tools i.e., Outlook, Excel, Word, and PowerPoint
  • Technical competency:
  • Content development, proofreading, and copy editing skills are highly desirable
  • Collateral design and deployment experience is highly desirable (e.g. InDesign, Illustrator, Photoshop, etc.)
  • Website design experience, a plus
  • Knowledge of energy efficiency principles and terminology, a plus
  • Other:
  • Eligible to work in the United States
  • Valid driver's license in the State of California (must be obtained prior to employment); ability to travel within California
  • Low-income/disadvantage community, other advanced energy or renewable technology program experience is a plus (e.g. electric vehicle/clean transportation, energy storage, and/or demand response)
  • Certification or membership related to the building or energy industry is a plus
