Telecom Principal RAN Engineering Technologist

Join us as a Principal Engineering Technologist in the Telecom Systems Business Infrastructure Engineering team where you will play a key role in optimizing hardware platforms for use in RAN environments.

What you’ll achieve
You’ll help drive the architecture and definition of next-generation server, storage, and networking platforms optimized for the telecommunications industry as well as validating various aspects of the platforms with a focus on the RAN aspects of the solution. You’ll collaborate with product management, system level architects, and various development teams across Dell to engineer the RAN features needed to make Dell and Dell’s telecom customers successful. You’ll form opinions on improvements to the architecture or to the system configurations, and you’ll help incorporate your opinions into the specification of future generations of the products. You’ll grow to become an expert in modern hardware architecture with... a specialty in the 5G radio-access network (RAN) domain. You’ll engage internally across Dell’s engineering community, with vendors, and with customers. You’ll engage with customers on D-RAN and C-RAN architectures, driving technical expertise back into the architecture and development teams across Dell and Dell’s partners. You’ll have a hand in designing Dell’s products and, ultimately, in the emerging 5G networks across the world.

You will:

  • Participate in architectural discussions within Dell, with Dell telecom customers, and with key telecom ecosystem partners, both hardware and software
  • Apply telecom-specific requirements to ensure telecom-optimized functionality and performance
  • Collaborate with and be mentored by senior technologists with expertise in server architecture and in radio-access networks (RANs)
  • Drive independent research on the applicability of alternative hardware architectures in RANs, considering many design aspects across performance, power, thermal, and cost
  • Develop dimensioning models to aid in optimization of Dell’s solution proposals
