The Role

Optimus... Ride is focused on a rapid path to market in order to maximize the benefits of self-driving mobility for all. The Design teams play a key role in this mission by helping craft the products/platforms and user experience for our turnkey autonomous mobility system. These products/platforms are especially exciting as they are often the first point of contact between the self-driving vehicles and our passengers, clients, or other partners.

As a user experience designer, you will work in an interdisciplinary role to help create a product experience for our self-driving mobility ecosystem. You will be expected to participate in designing the overall functionality of our products, and iterate upon it in accordance with user-testing. The nature of our company means you will interface regularly with engineering, field operations, business development, and other teams to incorporate their perspectives, requirements, all the while ensuring a touch of magic for our users. In many cases we are designing for a technology and user journey that hasn’t been designed for before – a challenge we thrive on.

Responsibilities

  • Collaborate with product management and engineering to define and implement innovative solutions for the product direction, visuals, and experience
  • Facilitate our product vision by researching, conceiving, sketching, storyboarding, prototyping and user-testing experiences for products
  • Take a user-centered design approach and rapidly test and iterate on new functionality and features
  • Collaborate with other team members and stakeholders
  • Use recent studies and findings to establish the best overall design elements to include in UX design experiences
  • Create surveys for research through various media platforms to gather feedback on user's ease of use and satisfaction interfacing on company websites and products

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in Design, related field, or equivalent practical experience
  • 5+ years of commercial UX design experience
  • Experience designing complex solutions for digital + hardware ecosystems
  • Expertise in standard UX software such as Figma, Sketch, XD, Axure, Balsamiq, Framer, or others (Basic HTML5, CSS3, and JavaScript skills are a plus)
  • Ability to work with engineering, design, operations, and business teams to understand detailed requirements and design complete user experiences that meet client needs and vision
  • Extensive experience in using UX design best practices to design solutions, and a deep understanding of mobile-first and responsive design
  • A solid grasp of user-centered design, planning and conducting user research, user testing, A/B testing, rapid prototyping, heuristic analysis, usability and accessibility concerns
  • Ability to clearly and effectively communicate design processes, ideas, and solutions to teams and clients
  • Ability to work effectively in a team setting including synthesizing abstract ideas into concrete user experience implications
  • Be passionate about all things UX and other areas of design and innovation. Research and showcase knowledge in the industry’s latest trends and technologies
  • Experience working in an Agile/Scrum development process
