Job Description Summary
The Digital Workplace Sr UX Researcher will be responsible for working closely with the Digital Workplace Solutions team to drive understanding and communicating customer needs, pain points and workflows. Well-versed in human-centered design and well-versed in all UX research methodologies. You will design and execute the appropriate methodology, both quantitative and qualitative, to deliver actionable, data-driven insights that represent the voice of multiple customers. Your work will inform product design to ultimately deliver products that are intuitive and easy to use. They will be part of a broader UX community, working on various platforms and ecosystems to improve the overall experience and deliver additional capability across existing tools to our end user community. The projects they will be working on will be globally impactful, touching every employee across GE.

Roles and Responsibilities
In this role, you will:

Manage, design, and execute generative and evaluative UX design research efforts (e.g., usability testing, one-on-one interviews, heuristic evaluations, competitor assessments, experience maps, usability assessments, internal benchmarking, co-design activities, contextual inquiries, ethnographic research, surveys, card sorting, tree testing, A/B testing) ensuring the right strategy and methodology are utilized to deliver actionable results.
- Conduct comprehensive heuristic evaluations of the end-to-end experience of our core products following all possible paths, measure usability and make recommendations that will improve usability.
- Clearly and persuasively communicate research results, key findings and recommendations to internal stakeholders via impactful presentations and research assets.
- Build and communicate deep understanding of our users’ needs, goals, and workflows, turning qualitative and quantitative user research into insights and artifacts which will shape the future of our products.
- Collaborate with designers, product managers, technology product managers, engineering, marketing, analytics teams, and leadership to identify knowledge gaps and propose and plan methodology to gain needed insights.
- Conceptualize original ideas that bring simplicity and user friendliness to complex design roadblocks
- Present and defend designs and key milestone deliverables to peers and executive level stakeholders
- Help establish and promote design guidelines, best practices, and standards
- Contribute to the creation, maintenance, and implementation of design systems, component libraries, UI kits, and style guides.
- Research and evaluate emerging design, technology, industry, and market trends
- Demonstrate a strong understanding of Agile / Lean UX methodologies
- Make thoughtful connections between the brand, users and the business to craft human-centered designs and interactions
- Build quick wireframes to visually demonstrate interaction designs
Education Qualification
- A Bachelor’s Degree in Computer Science or in STEM Majors (Science, Technology, Engineering and Math) and 4+ years of experience OR a High School Diploma and 8+ years of related professional experience.
- 4+ years of Design, UX, or HCI preferred or related experience designing in an agency or enterprise setting with cross-functional teams.
- Legal authorization to work in the USA is required. We will not sponsor individuals for employment visas, now or in the future, for this job.
- Preferred candidate that can work remote and go into the Providence RI or Miami FL location office as needed.
Desired Characteristics / Technical Expertise:
- Experience conducting qualitative and quantitative research activities such as ethnographic studies and usability studies
- High attention to detail; extremely strong written and verbal communication skills
- Deep knowledge and previous experience with research tools such as Morae Observer, Camtasia, Axure, InVision, Maze, UserTesting, and Omniture
- Proficient in UX design tools, such as Sketch, Figma
- Proficiency of Agile / Lean UX methodologies

- Expresses UX and design concepts to collaborators on cross-functional teams. Goes beyond merely presenting designs by explaining the rationale and benefit of design ideas
