Android Developer (Mid-Senior Level)

How fun does it sound to work at a company that produces AI robotics? Are you interested in working on a mobile application? If you answered yes to any of these questions, this role might be interesting to you. This robotics company, based in San Jose, is searching for a well-rounded Android Developer. The company’s main product is an AI robot that helps people, families, and businesses with their everyday tasks.

You will be responsible for operating and creating new features for their current mobile application. The mobile application is used to control the different AI robots. You will be writing efficient, reusable, and testable code for the application. You need to make sure the application is running smoothly to ensure the customer’s have a good product experience. Most importantly, you should be able to transform the current code to enhance the overall application.

Who you are:

• Passionate about app design or architecture
• Good eye for detail and user experience to make sure... that every feature runs efficiently
• Strong knowledge of design patterns and testability (e.g UI, performance and unit testing)
• Have skills in Android software development utilizing Kotlin or Java
• Open to constructive criticism and is committed to improving your skills
• Team player and enjoys working with others

Required Skills & Experience:

• 2-5+ years of Android mobile development experience
• Strong understanding of Android UI code and custom layouts
• Knowledge in Android architectures such as Jetpack’s main libraries
• Have created/contributed an app that is still available on the Google Play Store
• Knowledge with REST APIs and patterns of asynchronous code
• Good written and verbal communication skills

Nice to Have:

• Hands on experience with either of these: Jetpack’s ViewModel, Room, Navigation, MotionLayout
• Contributed to Open Source code
• Understanding with image manipulation algorithms
• Experience with Retrofit, Koin, and Espresso
• Hands on experience with the Android Canvas class
