Acting on own initiative, the Sr. Benefits Specialist administers the benefits function company-wide. Provides consultative guidance and makes recommendations in all benefits related activities and other total rewards issues. Initiates, deploys and administers benefits programs, policies, practices and processes. Conducts annual benefit reviews and trend analysis. Reviews vendor proposals and recommends selection.

Responsibility

  • Provide Subject Matter Expert (SME) consultation and strategic recommendations for health benefits
  • Administer employee benefit programs, including eligibility determination, new... hire benefit enrollment, qualifying life status changes, beneficiary updates, disability, accident and death claims.
  • Respond to general employee inquiries on eligibility, coverage, and other employee benefit matters.
  • Conduct daily routine benefit processing for: benefits enrollments, COBRA, terminations, changes, beneficiaries, disability, accident and death claims.
  • Provide support with administering protected and personal leaves of absence including leave determinations, recordkeeping, compliance, written and oral communication with employees, supervisors and care providers as needed.
  • Develop and review enterprise-wide benefit program policies and strategies and provides recommendations for management approval
  • Manages records and monitors compliance with all relevant laws and regulations; protects confidentiality of highly sensitive information
  • Work with external parties (consultants, vendors, industry groups) to analyze and identify emerging benefit programs and innovative strategies to meet Insitu's talent strategy and cost profile objectives
  • Develop and maintain partnerships with internal functional areas such as Legal/Compliance, HR Services, Communications, Finance, etc to ensure integration and an effective roll-out of policy and strategic initiatives
  • Monitor and analyze legislative and regulatory actions that may impact benefit plans to develop recommendations as appropriate
  • Negotiate benefit contract terms, manage RFP process for new vendors/carriers and develop quality improvement
  • Partner with leaders on influencing and communicating with managers, HRGs and business unit leaders on a variety of healthcare and Well-Being related topics and initiatives

Education & Experience:

  • Typically 14 or more years' related work experience or relevant military experience. Advanced degree (e.g. Bachelor, Master, etc.) preferred, but not required.
  • Prior experience working for mid to large sized companies providing benefits analysis required.
  • Expertise in developing and implementing policy and strategic recommendations related to health and welfare benefits
  • Experience with the employee benefits vendor marketplace
  • Experience doing benefits analysis in the defense industry is a strong plus.
  • Strong verbal and written communications skills required.
  • This role can be performed virtually for the right candidate, 5-10% travel required domestically for periodic onsite team meetings.
