This is an opportunity to join a rapidly growing company that is helping shape the future of education. Reporting to our Director of Corporate Marketing, you’ll be helping to define the next phase of Newsela’s brand in the market, and will get to help build the visual manifestation of that strategy. You’ll have the opportunity to grow your design skills through continuously updating our library of creative assets to meet our team’s needs, in addition to ideating and iterating on new templates for diverse business needs. Your work will directly contribute to enabling Newsela’s growth, ultimately bringing accessible, culturally responsive learning content to K-12 teachers and students nationwide..
Why We’ll Love You:

You have proven mastery in design basics (color theory, layout, editing, etc.) and demonstrated ability to apply and perform design skills including drawing/sketching, typography, ideation, use of texture, art direction, and visual presentation development. You’re able to apply these skills in innovative ways that elevate brand excellence, and you’re always building your technical knowledge when it comes to digital and innovative brand practices. You’re passionate about and connected to the creative industry, and are sensitive to the trends influencing design (specifically graphic design in edtech). You’re a skilled written and verbal communicator, able to translate technical design concepts across various internal and external audiences to inspire and excite them. Your spirit of collaboration enables you to build relationships and work effectively across business functions and departments, as well as with external partners, while working with their other key work streams. You’re excited to work in a mission-driven, fast-paced environment and apply your growth mentality to help your team flourish. While not required, an Art degree, agency experience, and/or experience in education is preferred.
