Position Information:The Physician Assistant, Specialty ? Cardiothoracic Surgery (non-OR) will work under the general supervision of the cardiovascular surgery primary supervising physician, all cardiovascular surgery physicians, and the advanced practice provider director, to deliver competent medical care to an age-specific population including adults and geriatric cardiovascular surgery patients at WakeMed during hours as designated. The position will complete admission and pre-operative workups, consultations, daily rounds in units, discharges, and clinical record dictation activities, function as the on-site liaison to directly receive calls and provide orders to staff to manage pre-and post-operative surgical and medical care needs, provide orders for transfer or discharge as appropriate, and provide assistance in communicating directly with the cardiovascular surgeons during emergencies. Position to maintain the scope of practice to be consistent with the policies, procedures, and regulatory guidelines governed by the North Carolina Medical Board, and any other federal or state regulatory agencies, as well as the policies and procedures of WakeMed. Understands the needs of the organization and supports the mission, values, and management of WakeMed.

Experience Requirements:Clinical - Cardiology Preferred

Education Required:Bachelor's Degree Physician Assistant Required - And Master's Degree Physician Assistant Preferred

Licensure/Certification Requirements:Licensed Physician Assistant And Board Certification in Area of Practice

Hours of Work:6A-630P

Weekend Requirements:Every Fourth
