Technical Training Specialist (Data Center Facility Operations) - Remote Opportunity

Job Summary

Key aspects of the Technical Training Specialist position are to understand our clients’ performance improvement needs, review and understand principals of facility operating systems, work with Instructional Designers to design effective training solutions within project budgets, and ensure the overall project quality and success.

Responsibilities

Successful candidate will serve as a technical training consultant and training developer for data center system operators.

The candidate will develop new training materials for a wide range of equipment and systems, including:

Low to high voltage electrical equipment (transformers, circuit breakers, switch boards, variable speed drives)

Electrical distribution systems and control instruments

Heating, ventilating, and air conditioning equipment

Motors, pumps, and fans

Control equipment such as relays, programmable logic controllers, digital controllers, and human machine interfaces

Fluid systems (air and water)

Chemical treatment systems and equipment

Safety topics consistent with European and local safety standards

The successful candidate will collaborate with GP Strategies team members, client sponsors, and subject matter experts (SMEs) to:

Analyze instructional needs, define the course requirements, and ensure instructional integrity.

Build effective working relationships with SMEs to efficiently gather content information and feedback.

Analyze feedback with the client and SMEs, and adjust the training as needed.

The successful candidate will be required to spend a significant portion of their time writing, so writing proficiency will be a critical aspect of our selection process.

At the start of this job, the candidate will spend time reviewing existing training materials and job responsibilities and identifying their own training needs and gaps.

Qualifications and Skills Requirements

Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering or a related field with the ability to cross-learn topics from other disciplines such as mechanical and process controls.

Must also be a skilled communicator using various modes, including writing, verbal, and presentations.

Prepare training materials for equipment and systems, with no prior knowledge or experience, by locating and studying technical manuals, drawings, system descriptions, or other references.

Prepare training materials for various modes of training, including web based, instructor led, on-the-job, self-study, and laboratory exercises.

Present instructor-led training for complex technical topics.

Meet new people and gain trust through face-to-face interactions and interviews.

Proficiency with MS Word, Excel, and PowerPoint.

Must display original thinking and creativity and excel at meeting challenges with resourcefulness and innovative ideas.

Must enjoy working with teams in a fast paced, energetic environment.

Candidate will work from a remote location of their choosing in a home office equipped with a fast internet connection and basic office equipment.

Candidate will be required to maintain standard working hours and be available during working hours via texting and email.

Candidate must be willing to travel to locations in the United States and abroad.

Travel requirements are intermittent, but typically involve no more than twenty five percent of working hours.

Some travel may be required on weekends and evenings.

This is a salary-based position with full benefits.

The starting salary for the position is dependent upon the candidate’s qualifications.
