Job Description

Perry Street Software is hiring a Localization Software Developer to help with an upcoming project requiring significant patience and extreme attention to detail. This project will provide a solid foundation for the principles of localization... architecture.

This position is an hourly contract position, with a minimum of 20 hours per week, and the potential for additional hours based on the outcome of the initial project. The hourly rate is up to $30USD/hour.

What you'll do:

• Refresh and update the current iOS localization system with the new scheme developed in coordination with the Globalization Manager.
• Learn about the localization (l10n) of mobile apps.
• Gain experience using Xcode, Git, and GitHub to perform a large code refactor.
• Rigorously follow a naming convention to create new localization keys for items stored in a file.
• Locate and replace these keys where they appear in the code.

Who you are:

• Someone with at least 1 year of full-time or freelance work experience.
• At least 1 year experience working with code, ideally a compiled language such as Java/Kotlin or Swift. Bootcamp/other vocational programs ok!
• Technical and detail-oriented, with copious reserves of diligence, patience, and attention to detail.
• Experienced in conceptualizing complex systems and working within those systems, adapting as needed.
• Interested in languages and linguistics.
• Proficient in at least one language other than English.

You have technical experience in:

• Git, GitHub, and Xcode
• Data entry and management
• Naming conventions and cataloguing systems
• Swift and associated file formats
• Localization experience is a major plus
