Akido Labs is hiring a SecDevOps engineer to lead the design, implementation and maintenance of our top security programs in collaboration with stakeholders across the company. Our security team works hard to protect Akido, our customers, and the patients we ultimately serve, while we provide them with the healthcare services they need to thrive.

To be a successful Security Engineer, you should be experienced in information security and IT risk assessment, with a strong understanding of security protocols, authentication, and security. Our ideal candidate is capable of working closely with leadership to provide guidance on security and privacy policies while our customer base and patient count continues to increase at a rapid pace. As such, you should possess strong interpersonal and communication skills, and be enthusiastic about working with a wide variety of people.

Responsibilities of the Sr. SecDevOps position include:

  • Collaborating with compliance and privacy teams as well as other leaders to implement security best practices and make policy recommendations
  • Training the engineering team and continuing to grow our security-first mentality
  • Participating in design discussions and weighing in with your technical security expertise
  • Configuring security systems, analyzing security requirements, and recommending improvements on a continuous basis
  • Performing vulnerability and penetration tests, identifying and defending against threats, and developing disaster recovery plans
  • Updating software with the latest security patches and ensuring the proper defenses are present for each network resource
  • Installing, administering, and troubleshooting network security solutions
  • Defending systems against unauthorized access
  • Monitoring traffic for suspicious activity
  • Configuring and supporting security tools (firewalls, antivirus, and IDPS software)
  • Analyzing and establishing security requirements
  • Identifying threats and working on steps to defend against them
  • Conducting security audits

Qualifications

  • 8+ years experience as a DevOps engineer with 3+ years of focus on security
  • Experience implementing managing monitoring solutions including, but not limited to, CloudWatch, Elastic APM, and Zabbix
  • Experience working with configuration management solutions such as Ansible
  • Experience with AWS-based solutions preferred
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills
  • Critical thinking skills and the ability to solve problems as they arise
  • Ability to prioritize projects and work independently
  • Interest in working with people from a diverse set of backgrounds
  • Comfortable working in a fast-paced environment
