They provide guidance, instruction and support, manage the learning process and focus on students' individual needs. The Virtual Teacher is a highly qualified instructional teacher responsible for the delivery of specified course content in an online, virtual environment.Essential Duties and... Responsibilities:Set up, maintain assigned content courses as directed.Support assigned student content load to ensure mastery of curriculum, which includes but it not limited to:Daily/Weekly contact of students who are showing signs of failing Creating Personal Action PlansMaintaining a resource bank for students, which includes recordings, handouts, and materials for the content Deliver live instruction hours as required and outlined. Direct instruction includes whole group, small group, and one-on-one instruction.Examine academic progress and activity of students in assigned content courses on a daily and weekly basis.Contact students who are not logging in daily to their assigned content courses to ensure student is supported academically.Ensure weekly communication with all content students on current progress in assigned courses.Participate in instructional coaching and develop instruction to address coaching goals.Participate in Data Driven Instruction and utilize data to further enhance content course and student mastery.Ensure all compliancy documents such as attendance logs and work records are accurately completed.Augment course content in the form of remediation, modification, and enrichment.Work with VPA @ Lucerne team members to ensure additional support is given to students who are showing signs of failing or needing assistance.Implement student IEPs and attend IEP conferences as needed.Grade student work and enter grades into an online grade book in a timely manner as directed by the school.Contribute to and complete student progress reports and report card.Communicate with parents as needed, which includes but is not limited to:Calling students and parents Emailing and texting students and parents Meeting students and parents in Virtual PlatformReturning all communication ASAP but no longer than 24 hours later Communicate with teachers and administration as needed, which includes but is not limited to:Calling and/or emailing teachers as needed Returning phone calls/e-mails ASAP but no longer than 24 hours later Attending all in-person meetings as scheduled.Proctoring standardized testing.Attending all staff meetings; attending and participating in all school trainings and meetings.Fulfilling all other duties as assigned.Additional Responsibilities:Teachers will be expected to help with the planning and delivery of student onboarding. This will entail contacting the families of assigned students, participating in and attending orientation sessions, and following up with families to ensure they are prepared for the start of school. Additionally, teachers are expected to participate actively in and attend in-person events, graduation ceremonies, outings, and other events for students and families throughout the year.Requirements/Experience:Reside in the state of California and in the service area of the school Bachelor's degree Strong content and subject-matter knowledge Ability to support and guide adults, as well as students Strong written and verbal communication skills Organization and time-management skills Excellent writing and grammar skills Flexible schedule Proficiency in MS Excel, MS Word, and Outlook, PowerPoint and experience using them in a professional capacity Certificates and Licenses:Must hold a valid California Single Subject Teaching CredentialCalifornia English Learner AuthorizationAssignment of Students:Students will be assigned to teachers by the Head of School or designee according to a number of variables. In general, the Head of School or designee will look to assign students by geographical location and/or grade level. Full time classes will be filled prior to assigning students to part time teachers.
