The Senior Consultant is expected to work pro-actively and effectively on multiple client engagements through taking ownership of all phases of the search process. The Senior Consultant is a key member of the team, critical to the continuing success and growth of the practice.

The Senior Consultant may be asked to lead the development and execution of the search strategy for his/her assigned searches. In collaboration with the Consultant, the Senior Consultant develops a plan for efficient, effective candidate development, and executes the plan to engage high-quality candidates on a timely basis to meet or exceed the search objectives.

The Senior Consultant will be sought out for advice, input and participation during the business development stage, based on his/her depth of experience in a specific function or geography.

Job Tasks:

  • Identify, pursue, and successfully sell executive-level retained searches and workforce consulting engagements to potential new and existing... clients.
  • Collaborate with client and team members to create search plan, including deliverables and strategy (target markets, companies, positions, and people).
  • Conduct/obtain client information via intake meetings and documents.
  • Provide regular updates on search progress to client and with team members.
  • Identify, contact, and recruit prospective candidates; communicate regularly with candidates throughout search engagement to create and ensure a positive candidate experience.
  • Conduct in-depth interviews with candidates; identify and assess candidates who best align with search parameters for presentation to client.
  • Interact regularly with clients to create and maintain a positive business relationship throughout the search engagement. Develop and maintain strong relationships with existing clients leading to additional search engagements for the firm.
  • Provide market and candidate insights to search team members in preparation for client meetings.
  • Conduct professional references on candidates.
  • Drive client and candidate management activities individually or in conjunction with other team members.

  • Strong interpersonal skills who enjoys the challenge of working in a team-based environment.
  • Demonstrated skills and capabilities in conducting in-depth assessments of business experiences and professional competencies of top executive talent.
  • Intelligent and bright; able to grasp new information and climb a learning curve quickly.
  • A self-starter who demonstrates initiative, coupled with good judgment.
  • Strong organizational and project management ability.
  • Strong listening ability with all constituents: clients, candidates, and EPLS team members.
  • Comfortable using the telephone to ask for information, connect with and engage individuals, provide information, and to persuade others to a point of view.
  • Excellent communication skills, oral and written.
  • Knowledge of Microsoft Office programs including Word, PowerPoint, and Excel.
  • Strong familiarity/facility with Internet use for primary research.
  • Strong familiarity/facility with social media.
  • Strong analytical skills.

Minimum Education/Certifications:

  • Bachelor’s Degree – required

Minimum Experience:

  • 10+ years with a search firm
  • Healthcare retained search experience

Preferred Experience:

  • Master’s in Business or applicable

Work Environment and Culture

  • Work performed primarily in an office environment, consisting of light to moderate physical activity, including use of computer, telephone and/or other office equipment.
  • Work on-site within the expected work hours and schedule including required meetings and on-time attendance.
