PLEASE NOTE: this is a remote/work from home position – however, due to our pay practices, qualified candidates MUST reside within one of the following states: Oregon, Washington, Idaho, California, Nevada, Colorado, Arizona, Oklahoma, Texas, Georgia, Tennessee, Kentucky, North Carolina and New York. While candidates need to live or relocate to one of the aforementioned states, working remotely will require reliable broadband internet and personal cell phone service. Remote work may include working day-to-day operations during PST business hours or online training.

Position Summary

The Associate General Counsel provides legal guidance to all company stakeholders and divisions. The Associate General Counsel will respond to legal requests from various stakeholders and divisions of the company, identify, assess and monitor legal risks, ensure compliance with policies, guidelines, industry standards and applicable laws and regulations, assist in litigation management, and work collaboratively with company stakeholders to ensure legal awareness and effective decision-making. This person will also assist with certain contract matters and business transactions.

Qualifications

Education

  • Juris Doctor (JD) law degree from an accredited law school required

Experience

  • 3 years of healthcare experience in a law firm, governmental agency or in-house legal department (or combination thereof).
  • Significant experience in and understanding of healthcare fraud, waste and abuse laws.
  • Demonstrated experience with regulatory issue spotting, corporate governance, research, analysis, and guidance.
  • The ability to communicate effectively and to provide legal analyses and guidance.
  • Demonstrated superior writing and presentation skills.
  • The ability to work independently and exercise sound judgment.
  • The ability to work efficiently and effectively manage multiple projects concurrently.
  • Demonstrated track record of being a team- player and working collaboratively.
  • The desire and ability to serve as a subject matter expert and share knowledge.
  • The desire and ability to perform an educational function within the company.
  • The willingness to go the extra mile, set priorities and see projects to completion.

Licenses/Certifications

  • Admitted to the State Bar of Oregon OR at least one State Bar Admission (in good standing) AND the ability to gain admission to Oregon Bar or otherwise meet any applicable in-house counsel practice rules within one year of hire.
