We are looking to expand our Legal team with an attorney who will report to the General Counsel as a critical member of a leanly staffed, high functioning Legal and Compliance team. Everyone at Possible works remotely from their home, and there is no requirement to be in an office or regularly travel. Seattle-based employees may choose to work in our office, which is conveniently located between Belltown and Pike Place Market. We take the safety of our... teammates very seriously, and there is no expectation of travel until it is safe or until you are comfortable doing so. Responsibilities

  • Draft and review commercial agreements and other contracts
  • Advise and assist both legal and business partners about legal issues affecting vendor agreements and other business transactions
  • Research and advise on licensing and corporate registration requirements for multi-state financial products and services
  • Assist in responding and reviewing litigation and regulatory matters
  • Advise on the development of new products and services
  • Provide support for compliance group with legal interpretation of consumer finance regulations
  • Drive and execute special projects to support objectives of the Legal team
  • Advise and assist both legal and business partners about legal issues affecting vendor agreements and other business transactions

This Opportunity Requires

  • JD and current member of at least one State bar and in good standing
  • 3+years of post-admission experience at a financial institution, fintech, start-up or law firm
  • Understanding of the legal and regulatory environment of consumer finance, including loans and credit cards
  • An ability to negotiate with internal and external parties
  • Experience in one or more of the following areas: Truth in Lending Act and Regulation Z; Equal Credit Opportunity Act and Regulation B; Fair Credit Reporting Act; Fair Debt Collections Practices Act; Unfair Deceptive and Abusive Acts or Practices; Telephone Consumer Protection Act; Electronic Funds Transfer Act (Regulation E); Electronic Signatures in Global and National Commerce Act (ESIGN); NACHA Operating Rules and Guidelines; Data Privacy and Information Security; and state licensing requirements for non-bank lenders
  • An ability to pivot and adjust to new technologies, systems and communications platforms
  • Intellectual curiosity and confidence practicing in gray or undeveloped areas of the law
  • An ability to build relationships across the organization

Work hours

Possible is fully distributed and has team members across the US and in Asia and Latin America. Our primary coordination hours are 9a to 3p Pacific Time.
