IT Systems Engineer - Infrastructure Engineer

The Network, Infra, and Compute Engineering team is responsible for the foundational Network and Systems Services used internally. The team focuses on delivering highly-available services using well-known, industry standard solutions when practical.

The primary goal of the team is to continue to evolve the deployment and management of these services to follow standard Lyft practices and ensure security and scalability. The services we manage include authentication and directory services, public key infrastructure, load balancing, certificate management, DNS, onprem and virtual infrastructure services, among others.

Requirements & Experience

● Design, deploy and support highly available infrastructure services that Lyft employees depend on (BCP and DR)

● Build, scale, and secure traditional services using innovative solutions

● Automate where possible, implement and improve processes where necessary

● Participate in org-wide incident... review and remediation

● Leverage the scale and complexity of the larger Lyft IT infrastructure to solve problems for IT’s customers

● Be the final escalation point for issues related to core Network and Systems infrastructure, ie windows, vmware, AWS, and etc

● Experienced with On Premise, Cloud and Hybrid infrastructure architecture and design

● Experience in configuring and maintaining of applications such as Active Directory, DHCP, DNS, IIS, Apache, MS SQL, Postfix, Squid, MySQL, and SNMP

● Experience scripting in other languages such as Ruby, Python, or PHP

● Virtualization ie VMWare VSphere (e.g. ESXi, vCenter) administration and support

● Experience in storage technologies (e.g. Dell, HP, NetApp or Pure storage)

● Github repository experience

● Working knowledge of Network protocols (ie, BGP, NAT, VLANs, IPv4, IPv6, Load balancing, etc)

● BS or MS in Computer Science, Engineering, Telecommunications or a related technical discipline or equivalent experience

● 8+ years system administration experience

● 4+ years experience in Ansible, Puppet, Chef or other automation tools

● 2+ years experience working with monitoring and configuration management tools such as Solarwinds, Splunk, Elk, Wavefront, etc

● Participation in Global On Call rotation

● May require Datacenter build activities

● Ability to work remote US Hours 9am-5pm PST
