IMPAQ is seeking a full-time Research Analyst who will conduct and support Senior Analysts and Associates in a broad range of activities including data analysis, program assessments, project monitoring and evaluation, project management, and technical tasks... within its International Development Division.

The Research Analyst is expected to support the mobilization of awarded contracts, and provide backstopping support in the management of existing contracts and deliverables. S/he is expected to support the development of M&E resources, such as evaluation designs, sampling plans, survey instruments and protocols, work plans, and conduct literature reviews and other research activities. S/he will also have the capacity to support research and evaluation, including data collection, development of data entry templates and final data sets, data entry and coding, data cleaning and other data quality measures. S/he will manage the development of sections of evaluation reports, technical proposals, presentations, and other provide translation duties as required.

Responsibilities

  • Support Senior Analysts and Research Associates with various aspects of project implementation, including evaluation design, preparation for data collection, programming and testing of survey instruments, and review and analysis of qualitative and quantitative data using various software programs. Research analysts are also expected to support in administrative, logistical, operational, and contractual matters where appropriate.
  • Construct, clean, manage, and document large datasets for both internal and project purposes.
  • Assist Senior Analysts and Research Associates in writing, compiling, editing, and formatting assigned portions of project reports and proposals.
  • Support the creation of customized and presentation-quality reports from data analysis results.
  • Lead literature reviews, summarizing information on key topic areas and publications.
  • Support Senior Analysts and Research Associates in managing administrative and operational project tasks (e.g., workplans, budgets, subcontracts).
  • Conduct research, gather intelligence, and support preparation of technical proposals and other business development-related deliverables.
  • Participate in brainstorming and project design meetings and exercises.
  • Provide support writing for key proposals.
  • Act as a proposal coordinator which includes maintaining the proposal calendar and communications, assisting with proposal research, collecting documents, formatting CVs, coordinating and/or conducting capture trips, and maintaining proposal document libraries on SharePoint.
  • Collaborate with the International Recruiter to identify and recruit key and non-key staff.
  • If applicable, provide translation duties to develop and support client-ready literature.
  • Contribute to and advance IMPAQ's international reputation as a leading research and evaluation firm.

Qualifications

  • At least a bachelors degree in Economics, Public Policy, International Affairs/Relations or Political Science required, Masters preferred, with at least 2 years work experience in the international development context.
  • Relevant experience in a developing country context, international fieldwork highly desired.
  • Relevant experience working in an international development for-profit or non-profit desired .
  • Experience in proposal preparation, particularly for USAID, USDA, DOL ILAB, MCC desired.
  • Experience and knowledge of data analysis and data management techniques using STATA, SAS, Access, Excel, and/or other databases is highly desirable.

  • Experience with qualitative and quantitative research methods.

  • Excellent oral and written and interpersonal communication skills.
  • Strong organizational skills and strong analytical skills.
  • Strong interest in evaluations, performance monitoring, data collection, technical assistance, donor assistance impact, and related issues.
  • Ability to balance multiple priorities and meet critical deadlines in a fast-paced environment.
  • Advanced expertise in MS Word, Excel, and PowerPoint required.
  • Foreign language skills, particularly Spanish and/or French, highly desired.

While performing the duties of this job, employees are regularly required to sit, walk, and stand; talk or hear, both in person and by telephone; use hands repetitively to handle, feel, or operate standard office equipment.

Expected Hours of Work

This is a full-time position. Days and hours of work are Monday through Friday, 8:30 a.m. to 5 p.m. Occasional evening and weekend work may be required as job duties demand.
