Mortgage Compliance Regulatory Analyst

Serves as an enterprise-wide resource for Fair Lending and HMDA regulatory matters and fair lending compliance related initiatives. Responsible for HMDA Data collection and validations. Responsible for performing and maintaining in-house fair lending statistical analysis and identifying fair lending risks using strong statistical methods. Collaborates across the Credit Union to develop Fair Lending and HMDA risk controls to ensure that consumer and mortgage-lending activities comply with applicable Fair Lending and HMDA laws and regulations.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

  • Conducts and analyzes fair lending reports, comparative analysis, including examining samples of loan accounts, fair lending marketing advertisements reviews, correspondences and other documentation to ensure compliance with fair lending laws and related regulations and Credit Union policies and procedures.
  • Responsible for HMDA data collection and validation... analyzes and interprets loan applications and related documentation to ensure appropriate HMDA coding; conducting HMDA reportable quarterly file reviews and annual HMDA submission; works across multiple areas and systems to ensure compliance and adherence to regulatory requirements.
  • Perform statistical analysis to determine risk associated with underwriting, pricing, and loan servicing.
  • Perform research, development and reports relating to the review and fair lending risk monitoring across the Credit Union; presents results to multiple levels of management.
  • Assist manager with comprehensive fair lending program to comply with all applicable statutes, regulations, rules, and best practices; developing appropriate policies, procedures, processes and relevant training for fair lending compliance.
  • Ensures compliance with applicable Credit Union fair lending policies and procedures; Assists with training utilizing a variety of instructional techniques or formats, including, but not limited to; role-plays, games, quizzes, team activities, videos and lectures.
  • Maintains current in-depth knowledge and understanding of federal and state laws, regulations and regulatory policy and the strategic implications for the Credit Union.
  • Designs the fair lending model development, data preparation, documentation, testing components and flow, including any needed modifications.

Education Requirements

  • 4 Year / Bachelors Degree - Business or other relevant discipline - Required
  • Acquire and maintain NCCO certification within one year.
  • Experience Requirement
  • 2 Years - Experience in conducting regulatory compliance or fair lending analysis for a financial institution - Required
  • Experience in conducting regulatory compliance audits regarding mortgage - Preferred
  • Knowledge of how consumer financial products are underwritten and priced - Preferred
  • Skills/Abilities

Learn and apply information, on a wide range of Credit Union products, services and regulatory compliance requirements, in order to assess member situations and develop solutions.

Excellent writing skills with ability to effectively articulate findings and issues in concise manner.

Operate computers and use business software with advanced knowledge of data management, spreadsheet and standard computing applications.

Understand and follow written and oral instructions.

Set priorities and manage ones own time effectively.

Experience with MS Word, Excel and PowerPoint.

Strong proficiency in time management and organizational skills.
