Opy USA is part of the Openpay Group Family (ASX: OPY). We are an omni-channel payment solution that provides customers with flexible, interest-free payment plans, in-store, online and through the Openpay App. Available in Australia, New Zealand, and the UK, we are preparing for our US where we will help people pay smarter across loads of industries including retail, healthcare, automotive, home improvement and more.

This Amberfication is supported by our growing US team and we are looking for a Commercial Counsel to join us.

About the opportunityIn this role, you will be responsible for supporting Openpay’s corporate legal function by advising on a broad range of legal matters including payments... IP, security & data privacy as well as negotiating merchant contracts to accelerate our growth in the US.This includes:

Supporting the Opy US senior leadership with counsel on matters pertaining to payments, IP, Security and Data PrivacyNegotiation of merchant and partnership agreements Providing guidance on commercial contracting best practices to internal stakeholdersDraft and negotiate commercial agreements, terms, templates and other key legal documentsWorking in collaboration with our US Growth, Marketing, Finance teams as well as with our Group legal function located in AustraliaAbout youWe believe every new team member has an opportunity to add to our culture – we’re a vibrant team of Podcasters, Ultra-Marathoners, Dancers, Gin-Distillers, Students, Marshall-Artists and more, so we’re looking for people who want to be part of a diverse and ever changing team.To be successful in this role, you will need:4-6 years of relevant experience (prior in-house experience is preferred but not essentialJuris Doctor with a state bar membership in good standingHighly developed communication and inter-personal skillsThe ability to balance business objectives with legal riskA natural disposition to roll your sleeves up and ‘pitch in’Experience in the financial services/fintech space is an advantage
