IP Patent Secretary Needed! *REMOTE*

Job Description

Are you interested in working at a prominent law firm and build upon your legal experience? Robert Half Legal is seeking an experienced IP patent secretary for a position with a prominent Silicon Valley law firm located in Palo Alto! If you are organized and have the experience you are highly encouraged to apply! The ideal candidate must be able to work with minimal supervision, follow written and verbal directions. Candidates are preferred to have 3-5 years of litigation experience!

Job Duties include but not limited to:

• Assist with coordinating workflow throughout the patent prosecution department; and coordinates with docketing department for upcoming patent activity due dates(i.e., Office Action responses)
• Assist attorneys with all aspects of patent prosecution (domestic, PCT, foreign): Assist attorneys with utility (Continuation, CIP, Divisional), provisional and design patent applications.
• Prepare Office Action response templates (acquiring cited prior... art, updating claims status) for USPTO and foreign patent offices; edit and revise documents under attorney instruction as necessary. Order patent searches; track and organize search reports; coordinate search results meetings as necessary.
• Prepare reporting letters and correspondence to clients.
• Proof read documents and check for appropriate formatting, spelling and grammar.
• Maintain good public relations with clients.
• Sort, date and read incoming mail and faxes. Prepare documents and packages for mail, messenger and overnight delivery.
• Complete client/matter forms. Request conflicts of interest checks. Open new files.
• Prepare expense reports, manage vendor invoices, mailings, and request checks as needed.
• Maintain attorney Outlook calendar and backup deadline reminder systems.
• *This position if remote during COVID-19 but once restrictions are lifted will be located in Palo Alto, CA.
