Research!America, the nation’s leading membership alliance advocating for science, discovery and innovation to achieve better health for all, is seeking an experienced communications professional with a strong background in a health or science policy setting. The Senior Director of Communications will oversee the day-to-day operations of the communications function, working with staff across the organization to develop and execute a range of activities intended to drive advocacy to support public and private sector medical and health research funding and policy issues, as well as strong brand recognition of Research!America and its mission. The Senior Director plans and oversees execution of proactive media strategies. Possessing superlative writing abilities, the Senior Director, as lead writer, works collaboratively across the organization to craft op-eds, LTEs, press statements and other materials as needed. The ideal candidate will have a bachelor’s degree, with a master’s degree... preferred, in journalism, communications, public policy, health policy or related field, with a minimum of eight years’ of increasingly responsible experience as a communications professional and a solid understanding of the legislative process with experience communicating legislative advocacy priorities to targeted audiences.
