About the Role

Reporting directly to and working closely with the CEO, the Development Manager will be responsible for the design and implementation of Moneythink‚Äôs fundraising efforts. This role will serve as the organization‚Äôs Development ‚ÄúChief of Staff‚ÄĚ and ensure that all key ambassadors (CEO, Exec Staff, Board, others) have what we need to be successful in their efforts to increase financial resources. The Development Manager will use their creativity and big picture thinking to develop and improve systems, research prospects and ‚Äėset the table‚Äô for the CEO to cultivate prospects, steward donors and close gifts. Funder ID + Cultivation

  • Research and identify new aligned funding sources from corporate, foundation, government, and individual sectors
  • Stay current on active funders‚Äô grant-making priorities and cycles
  • Support... the fundraising activities by scheduling key meetings, coordinating agendas, and preparing materials
  • Partner with the CEO and select team members to produce grant and fundraising proposals and track details of proposals to ensure complete, accurate, and timely submission.

Communications + External Relations

  • Execute a fundraising communications plan to current and prospective funders; articulate Moneythink‚Äôs and DecidED‚Äôs stories by leveraging success stories, progress, and student and partner testimonials
  • Participate in funder video and phone calls, site visits (when able to), email, and other forms
  • Support the narrative on all social media accounts (Facebook, Instagram, Twitter, LinkedIn, Moneythink and DecidED websites)
  • Revise our funder pitch deck and corresponding assets

Systems management

  • Utilize internal Development tracker and related platforms to record, track, and report on relevant grant and engagement activities
  • Manage pledges, deposits, and money moving in from different online platforms in partnership with Operations
  • Provide leadership and ownership of improving our internal development tracking systems

  • In possession of a bachelor‚Äôs degree
  • Able to see the big picture and connect the dots on the ground
  • In love with Moneythink‚Äôs mission and ready to shout it out from the rooftops!
  • An assertive go-getter (not aggressive)
  • Ridiculously detail oriented (and have the memory to track it all)
  • Really good at nosing around and finding things out (prospect researching)
  • Energized by building systems to keep track of the things your research discovers
  • Knowledgeable about (and have experience building) relationships with multiple stakeholders, especially virtually (i.e. phone, email, and video chat)
  • Solid listening, verbal, and written communication skills
  • Able to find your way around and leverage technology to get things done
  • Highly self-motivated and love working within a small team
    Competitive applicants will also have:
  • 2+ years experience in fundraising, sales and/or partnership cultivation in a start-up or education nonprofit setting and ready to take the next leap
  • Experience being a part of a grant-proposal process (as in grant writing and or proposal editing)
  • Experience with donor databases that could include but not limited to Salesforce or related CRM systems
  • Experience working in a fast paced environment, with a focus on developing mission-driven initiatives and juggling multiple priorities and timelines
