We created Recess to bring calm and balance to an overstressed generation. From functional beverages to digital experiences, we make things that help people feel calm cool collected despite the stressful world around them. (In business lingo, you might call us a relaxation platform.)

We’re looking to expand our team as we explore novel ways of reaching calm through new ingredients, products, content, and experiences.

What We’re Looking For

The Part-time Freelance Social Media Expert will support and grow both the Recess brand and our audience on Instagram and TikTok. This role will be responsible for identifying, organizing, and tracking influencers and content creation partners for both platforms.

We’re looking for someone who can take on our brand voice and business/campaign objectives and match them with influencers/content creators to develop compelling experiences for both platforms. In addition to identifying and engaging with influencers/creators, you should be... an expert on social and cultural trends from the latest meme, to up-and-coming creatives, to the next TikTok trend.

In addition, this role will be responsible for tracking and engaging with our own community to identify people who can grow into long-term brand partners.

You’ll be working alongside our marketing, and creative teams to help scale content and audience across our social channels. In this role, you will be reporting directly to our Director of Brand Marketing. As a distributed organization, we are open to remote candidates but have a preference for New York.

What You’ll Do (Responsibilities)

After you’ve stocked your home fridge with some Recess, this is what you can expect from the role:

  • Work with the Director of Brand Marketing and marketing coordinator to build and manage the Recess influencer community
  • Identify and present new influencer/creators from both our own network and out of network
  • Identify and present new social/cultural trends
  • Brainstorm content themes and integrations into social media/culture
  • Help manage the logistics of shipments and postings
  • Support the marketing coordinator in managing DM’s and comments on Instagram
  • Willing to devote at least 15-20 hours a week part-time

What You’ve Done (Role Qualifications)

  • 1-3 year professional experience in social media / digital marketing
  • Strong understanding of internet culture in both a personal and or professional capacity
  • Strong understanding of Instagram and TikTok
