Who We Need:

The Learning & Development Specialist III will provide support, organization, and standardization to the learning programs at Cardinal Financial. As a member of the Learning & Development (L&D) Team, this position will partner with the Learning & Development Manager and other members of L&D to create exciting, modern, and comprehensive learning experiences for team members at Cardinal... Financial. This role will be pivotal in enhancing and improving the learning experience for all our employees and, in some cases, partners.

  • Delivers innovative and engaging virtual learning experiences for a nationally-dispersed audience and excels at creating a classroom conducive to learning. Facilitates learning in a virtual environment using industry-standard management techniques while incorporating activities to accelerate learning and effectively use virtual training tools.
  • Manages all training logistics such as the agenda, invites, assessments, scorecards, and surveys.
  • Develops a broad understanding of business units, workflows, and job responsibilities at Cardinal Financial and an expert knowledge of processes, procedures, and systems of job role(s) within the assigned business unit.
  • Consults with assigned line of business managers and executives to conduct a detailed needs assessment, identify performance gaps, gain commitment of key stakeholders, and develop advanced learning solutions to close the gaps.
  • Reviews business metrics, procedures, surveys, test cases, and assessments to identify learning gaps and makes enhancements to current training programs based on the findings.
  • Leads the development of new training programs and continuing education within the assigned business unit.
  • Creates/updates training materials incorporating different experiential and skill-based learning methods while adhering to brand guidelines.
  • Analyzes and evaluates the results of training programs and solutions using level 1–4 evaluation techniques.
  • Coaches and mentors fellow L&D specialists on design, delivery, and evaluation of training programs.
  • Serves as owner/co-owner of existing training programs(s).
  • Conducts train-the-trainer sessions.
  • Leads special projects as assigned.
  • Models the Cardinal culture.

What You Will Do:

  • Facilitate instructor-led virtual training sessions covering specified topics such as new hire, refresher, continuing education, systems, skill building, products, etc. The length of the training will vary from an hour to multiple weeks.
  • Complete administrative duties including sending training invites, updating agendas, tracking attendance, grading assessments, proctoring and reviewing test cases, providing managers feedback on trainees’ progress during training periods, and sending the course evaluation/survey.
  • Develop training materials (slides, activities, content outlines, facilitator notes, assessments) for assigned business unit(s), incorporating the most appropriate experiential learning methods to maximize learning. Maintain training materials for assigned business unit(s). Follow designated procedures for updating training materials to ensure appropriate and consistency of all changes.
  • Implement enhancements to the curriculum to close identified performance gaps or address upcoming changes to procedures, systems, workflows, etc.
  • Seek opportunities to increase and maintain expert-level knowledge of the job role(s) in assigned business unit(s). This may include engaging with SMEs, observing production employees perform job duties, periodically performing some tasks and duties of the job role(s), and reviewing procedures.
  • Identify and share core knowledge of Learning & Development basics such as facilitation best practices, adult learning theory, Kirkpatrick’s levels of evaluation, Bloom’s Domain and Taxonomy of Learning, ADDIE model, etc. by developing and leading department upskilling sessions and creating quick reference guides. Keeps abreast of emerging L&D trends by conducting independent research.
  • Consult with managers and executives in the assigned business unit to close performance and knowledge gaps.
  • Meet deadlines, adhere to the L&D policies and procedures, and make recommendations for improvement.
  • Effectively manage multiple demands and competing priorities.
  • Develop effective professional partnerships with all colleagues and business partners.

What You Need:

  • High school diploma or GED
  • 7–10 years of professional training experience in financial services (preferably mortgage), experience serving as a subject matter expert in the assigned business unit with strong knowledge of Octane, Bachelor’s Degree in related field of study (e.g., Education, Communication, Human Resources), or equivalent combination of the above
  • Demonstrate flexibility under changing direction; must be a fast-paced individual
  • Excellent interpersonal, verbal, written, and listening skills
  • Detail-oriented and strong organizational skills
  • Ability to engage with trainees in a collaborative learning environment, adapt quickly to different learning styles and experience levels, and provide structure in a workshop environment
  • Prompt and punctual attendance for all assigned training events
  • Act as a mortgage professional during all live training environments and trainee interactions
  • 1–2 years experience working as a consultant or coach. Build and maintain solid relationships with management and peers. Demonstrated ability to work independently with managers, executives, and subject matter experts
  • Expert computer and Google Suite skills – (Slides, G-Mail, G-Doc, and Sheets)
  • Capacity to instill quick confidence in trainees to accelerate the learning process
  • Learn and comprehend Cardinal Financial’s proprietary loan origination software, Octane

What Is Preferred:

  • Bachelor’s Degree in related field of study (e.g., Education, Communication, Human Resources)
  • Strong understanding of mortgage processes, mortgage documents, and systems
  • Experience with video conferencing tools or virtual classroom platforms (Zoom, Ring Central, GoToWebinar, Googlemeet)
