We are currently seeking a Civil Engineer in the Los Angeles area to assist in the determination of the cause, origin, and extent of foundation/soil movement, structural failures, water intrusions, construction defects and other failures to join our team. Duties in this key position involve the investigation and analysis of residential and commercial/industrial properties for the purpose of resolving claims and legal disputes. Assignments will include site evaluations, oral and written reports that document causes of failure, extent of loss, and recommended remediation. Provide opinions and expert testimony. Other duties include gathering photographic evidence, conducting investigations to document onsite conditions and oversee field-testing.

Performs forensic assignments within the field of civil/structural engineering based upon a scope of work and budget prepared by the consultant and agreed upon by the client in advance of performing the work.

  • Field Investigations: Study and determine the cause and origin of construction defects or structural/foundation failures.
  • Produces written forensic reports detailing the causes and origins of construction defects, damage, and/or structural failures.
  • May serve as team leader or project manager. May be required to supervise and/or evaluate performance of associate team members.
  • Ability to initiate, develop and maintain mutually beneficial client relationships.


  • B.S. Civil Engineering degree or higher.
  • California P.E. required.
  • 5 to 15+ years of experience.
  • Experience in Land Development, including construction, transportation design, hydrology and/or geotechnical design is a plus.
  • Must have high level of analytical skills. Work requires continual attention to detail with the ability to define problems, collect data, establish facts, and draw valid conclusions.
  • Must be able to interact and communicate with clients at all levels (e.g. internal and external).
  • Must be able and willing to travel to other office locations to support those offices, as needed.
  • Must have knowledge of a variety of computer software applications including but not limited to, Microsoft Office Applications and computer assisted engineering and design software
