The Behavioral Benefits Integrity team is currently seeking a Benefits Integrity Process Consultant to drive and deliver on small and large-scale benefit initiatives across various functional areas and/or organizations to ensure that Optum successfully deliver products and benefits for our customers.

As a Benefits Integrity Process Consultant, you’ll work to not only challenge the status quo, but change it - making things better than you found them. You'll roll up your sleeves as you coordinate and drive forward both small and large... complex projects in an ever-changing regulatory environment to successful completion. You’ll be a subject matter expert in behavioral and partner with business and project owners to help define project scope, identify and mitigate risk, deliver on challenging time frames.

Primary Responsibilities:

  • Coordinates and drives management of small and large-scale, complex benefit and/or parity projects in the context of key business objectives
  • Leads or contributes to defining operational impacts and developing project scope documents with applicable stakeholders, when appropriate
  • Functions well in a multi-project environment with rapidly changing priorities
  • Works collaboratively with business leaders, process owners, customers, legal, and regulatory affairs management on parity reviews, new business, and in the planning of upcoming mandates that impact benefits in each state
  • Effectively communicates and disseminates critical information to multiple audiences
  • Consults with appropriate resources to translate highly-complex mandatory requirements into business requirements that can be understood by a variety of audiences and used to create solutions that lead to the successful implementation of new business, mandated benefits, and parity compliance across multiple lines of business
  • Acts as a consultant to our internal and external customers to help them understand and make decisions about benefit structure to help ensure compliance with mental health parity and to any mandated benefits required at the federal, state or line of business level
  • Participates in Financial, Legal and Regulatory discussions, as appropriate
  • Drives translation of often-conceptual business requirements into well-defined and concrete operational requirements and to assess and involve impacted areas as required
  • Understands regulatory and new business implementation process and how it impacts benefits and operations deliver in each state including state mandates and Federal Mental Health Parity – think strategically and deliver tactically
